Ideally you would wear a front closure, soft cotton or bamboo, non-wired bra. For a fuller cup it is important to have good support and to wear the bra at night for the first few weeks.
Ideally you would wear a front closure, non-wired, soft cotton or bamboo bra. As you may be discharged with drains and dressings, going up a size on the band will help prevent restricting the drainage from the drains. Once drains are removed a post-surgical or mastectomy bra with internal pockets that secures the breast form is advised.
If immediate reconstruction is being done, a good front closure compression bra is ideal.
It is recommended that you do not wear an underwire bra for six months following surgery. This is to allow for wound healing post surgery and any skin irritation that may have occurred with radiation therapy to resolve. Consult your doctor if you have any concerns regarding this.
The mastectomy bra has an internal pocket that secures the breast form in place. All mastectomy bras come with pockets on both sides.
If you have had breast surgery for cancer and are required to wear a breast prosthesis whether partial or full, you are entitled to claim for your products through the HSE.
A letter from your GP is required. Depending on what area you live in this varies slightly.
It is best to contact us and we can send the appropriate form to you to have signed by your GP.
We will take care of the application and paperwork and we will arrange an appointment for your fitting.
